Automatic and nearly complete filling of industrial greases

Virtually complete filling of high-viscosity industrial greases
VISCOFLUX lite with an F 550 S progressive cavity pump enables the automatic filling of high-viscosity industrial greases from ISO drum containers — with a residual quantity of less than 1%.

progressive cavity pump VISCOPOWER F 550 S and three-phase motor

The challenge

Class 2 industrial greases must be filled from ISO drum containers into canisters of various sizes. This process requires minimizing residual quantities as much as possible and implementing automated, volume-based filling.

High viscosity

Industrial greases adhere strongly to the sides of barrels, making it difficult to empty them completely.

Avoid leftover quantities

Product residue left in the barrel leads to material loss and increased costs.

Manual Filling

Without automation, precise, reproducible filling of specific volumes cannot be guaranteed.

The solution:

VISCOFLUX lite drum emptying system

The VISCOFLUX lite drum emptying system is placed directly on the surface of the fat in the open drum. The F 550 S progressive cavity pump conveys the highly viscous medium without pulsation. A scraper plate cleanly scrapes the fat off the drum wall, reducing residual amounts. In combination with the FMO flow meter, FLUXTRONIC® evaluation electronics, and a switching amplifier, filling takes place automatically based on a preset quantity. The system enables fast, economical transfer without heating.

Process Flow

Automatic filling in four steps.

1. Place the system on the barrel

VISCOFLUX lite is placed directly on the surface of the fat in the open drum.

2. Install the pump

The F 550 S eccentric screw pump is mounted using a crossbeam and connected to a motor.

3. Start filling

Once the motor starts, pumping begins immediately and operates without pulsation.

4. Automatically measure out the quantity

Using FMO and FLUXTRONIC®, the preset amount is dispensed at the push of a button.

Clean drum emptying

The follow-up plate reliably scrapes the fat off the barrel wall. As a result, only a minimal amount remains in the barrel, and it is emptied almost completely.
