Our Values
Eight guiding principles that shape how we do business — in our dealings with customers, employees, partners, and society.

We strive to build long-term partnerships with our customers. Internally, we also work as a team—respect, openness, and mutual motivation shape our work processes. Reliability based on partnership forms the foundation of our relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees.
We don’t just supply products—we also share our expertise in fluid technology. The training and professional development of our employees is just as important to us as passing on the expertise we’ve gained over more than 75 years. It’s not uncommon for FLUX trainees to go on to become specialists or managers—in fact, that’s exactly what we aim for.
The world’s first electric drum pump (1950) was already named FLUX. Since then, we have stood for a combination of Swabian ingenuity and innovative technology. We develop future-oriented products tailored to our customers’ needs and contribute to resource and energy efficiency.
The principle of performance and recognition guides our business practices—both in our business relationships and in our dealings with employees. Our fair compensation system was recognized in 2011 with the “Logib-D Certified” award from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth.
The FLUX brand name is a promise of quality. We manufacture “Made in Germany” products with an in-house production rate of over 80%. The durability and reliability of our pump technology have made us the market leader in many sectors. Our DIN EN ISO 9001 certification (since 1994) provides external confirmation of this.
As a company, we are aware of our social responsibility. We are committed to social projects and offer benefits not covered by the collective bargaining agreement—such as a tax-free childcare allowance. Comprehensive health care and job security are just as important to us as the environmentally conscious production of resource-efficient products.
Customer satisfaction is at the heart of our work. Guided by the motto “A little bit more for everyone!”, we are constantly on the lookout for new product solutions and efficient services. We see ourselves as a service provider that also keeps the entire product ecosystem in mind—identifying and solving problems before they arise.
FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH is an independent, medium-sized company with a family-owned structure. It guarantees the continuity of a reliable partner—both externally and internally. Our leadership culture empowers employees to take the initiative and assume responsibility on their own.
Our History
A Pioneer in Drum Pumps Since 1950: The history of FLUX began in 1950 with the invention of the world’s first electric drum pump—Patent No. 967 424. This invention has grown into an internationally active systems supplier headquartered in Maulbronn with subsidiaries on four continents. 75 years of continuous development—in a two-and-a-half-minute video and 24 milestones.
Historical Milestones 1951–1997
The early history of FLUX—from the first electric keg pump to international expansion. A concise summary in the archive.
In 1957, FLUX made its debut at the Hannover Messe. In the same year, the FLUX 400 series was launched — initially in a standard version and as a special variant for acids and alkalis.
The 400 series went on to become the longest-serving range in the product portfolio. At that time, components were manufactured by various suppliers; PROGRESS in Stuttgart produced the armatures and stators itself.

FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH becomes an independent company and gradually relocates its production to Maulbronn in the Enz district. Herbert Hahn leads the company for the next 38 years and opens up markets across all five continents.
In the 1980s, the first subsidiaries were established in the USA and the UK, followed in the 1990s by Eastern Europe, Russia, China and India.
The small, handy and reliable FLUXETTA swimming pool pump works just as well in a garden swimming pool and a rainwater tank as it does in a river or pond.
It is advertised with the slogan ‘Your own water from your own waterworks’. A highlight of pump advertising in the 1960s.
In the summer of 1965, FLUX moved into its new, purpose-built factory premises in Talweg. Covering a floor area of around 1,300 m² — a third of which is basement space — the building provided space for the company’s own parts production, staff facilities and ancillary rooms. Construction began in September 1964. The town of Maulbronn had provided FLUX with a plot of land in exchange in the Kohlplattenwiesen area in order to keep the growing employer in the local area.
The FLUX 60 K was unveiled at the Hannover Messe in 1965 — a lightweight, easy-to-handle acid and alkali pump designed specifically for laboratories and pharmacies. Outer tube made of polypropylene, Hastelloy C or PTFE, resistant to almost all corrosive chemicals. Suitable for hydrochloric and sulphuric acids, lactic and citric acids, and photographic developer and fixer baths.
In 1973, an extension of around 1,300 m² with a flat roof was commissioned; from 1974 onwards, this housed the assembly and repair department. At the same time, plastic injection moulding production was brought in-house — FLUX produced the majority of the moulds required for this in its own toolmaking department. In the years that followed, this high level of vertical integration became a cornerstone of the company’s quality strategy.
In 1976, FLUX unveiled a remarkable innovation: the FLUX 417 — the first portable drum and container pump with an insulated, splash-proof motor compliant with VDE 0730 T 2. The motor housing is made of pressure- and impact-resistant plastic, making it suitable for use with aggressive media such as hydrochloric and sulphuric acid. The F 417 motor remains FLUX’s most widely used drum pump motor worldwide to this day.
In 1987, FLUX filed a patent application for the F 425 pump. A non-return valve with a special safety mechanism seals the pump tightly once the pumping process is complete — the entire contents of the drum can be utilised, with only around 0.05 litres remaining. This achieves a drum emptying rate of 99.98 per cent.
FLUX is the first company in the region to be certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 by TÜV Südwest. The quality management system is thus externally validated and forms the basis for all manufacturing and development processes.
The ATEX Directive 94/9/EC introduces new regulations governing the use of drum pumps in potentially explosive atmospheres. FLUX is launching the world’s first commutator motor built in accordance with this directive and approved by the PTB — the F 460 Ex model.
Development Since 2000
New drive technologies, system solutions, and strategic expansions continue to shape the company’s development to this day.
