Our history shows how a pioneering technical achievement successfully established itself on the market. In fact, the history of FLUX began long before the development of the electric drum pump. It is closely linked to the history of FLUX’s original parent companies, the Stuttgart-based firms Mauz & Pfeiffer and PROGRESS Verkauf GmbH. For many, the PROGRESS vacuum cleaner, developed by Mauz & Pfeiffer in the mid-1920s, has remained synonymous with quality to this day.
With FLUX, the first electric drum pump, the company – which specialised in electrical household appliances – began to develop a new foothold in the industrial goods sector from 1950 onwards.
Whilst the cradle of today’s FLUX company was in Stuttgart-Botnang, the first electric drum pump actually saw the light of day in Karlsruhe. The 1960s brought a series of important changes for the company. A gradual relocation of production to Maulbronn began. Despite the oil crisis and the economic downturn, the 1970s were marked by rapid growth, which necessitated building extensions and changes to operational structures. From an early stage, the company focused on exporting its high-quality pumps, with sales partners in 21 countries at the time providing active support.
From 1980 onwards, FLUX also became completely independent, organisationally speaking, from PROGRESS Verkauf GmbH and from Mauz & Pfeiffer. All areas of the business (production, research and development, and administration) were now based in Maulbronn.
The 1990s were characterised by the ongoing modernisation of the company and its products. The transition into the new millennium was marked by a generational change. Herbert Hahn handed over the management of the company to his nephew, Klaus Hahn. FLUX is thus an example of a successful family business and a smooth succession of leadership.
FLUX’s history is characterised by a great deal of continuity, whether in terms of staff, collaboration with long-standing partners or, in particular, the quality of its products. One of the most important constants, however, is our capacity for innovation. The first electric drum pump, introduced in 1950, has been continuously improved and modernised.
In 2025, we look back not only on the development of the drum pump, but also on a steadily growing product portfolio. This means we have a suitable solution for a wide range of requirements. What has been our top priority throughout all these years is our focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
