FDA Series: For use with food, beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals

The SD Series diaphragm pumps are designed for the efficient and safe transfer of food, beverages, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products. With factory-installed options, you can customize your ARO® hygienic pump to meet your specific application requirements, ensuring cost-effective and hassle-free integration under factory supervision. The QKD (Quick Disassembly) design enables rapid inspection and maintenance—and thus a quick return to service.

  • Expert Series pump design for improved flow rates and greater reliability
  • The compression-clamp band design enables quick cleaning, service, and maintenance
  • Optimized flow rate through improved design for better overall performance and low material shear. This also enables a 20–30% higher flow rate than the competition
  • FDA compliance thanks to construction from electropolished 316 stainless steel

The PM Series of diaphragm pumps is ideal for applications requiring quick-disconnect fluid connections. They are constructed from FDA-approved materials and feature an electropolished 316 stainless steel wetted section, as well as a bolted assembly with fittings made entirely of stainless steel.

Knowledge and Technology

Selecting the right ARO® double-diaphragm pump depends on the fluid, the required flow rate, and hygiene requirements. The following sections explain the patented ARO® technology, compare the different series, and describe the available materials.

Design and Technology of ARO® Double-Diaphragm Pumps.

ARO® double-diaphragm pumps operate on the same oscillating displacement principle as FLUX compressed-air diaphragm pumps: Two diaphragms, connected centrally by a shaft, move simultaneously relative to each other. Compressed air drives the cycle—no electrical connection required.

Seal-less design: Gentle pumping, low material wear, leak-proof

  • Pleated diaphragms: Long service life, extended maintenance intervals
  • Versatile materials: PP, acetal, PVDF, AL, GG, S, Hastelloy—metallic and non-metallic

Patented ARO® compressed air motor technology

ARO® compressed air motor technology is based on three patented valve systems:

  1. The SimulShift™ valve prevents pump shutdown and enables faster switching at higher flow rates—even at low air inlet pressures, the “unbalanced” main air valve operates reliably.
  2. “Unbalanced” main air valve
—no pump stalling even at low air inlet pressures.
  3. “D” valve with ceramic construction optimizes energy efficiency and prevents costly compressed air losses—durable thanks to ceramic construction.
  4. Quick Dump™ exhaust valves divert cold, moist exhaust air away from the main air valve, thereby preventing the pump from icing up during continuous operation.

A Comparison of Compressed Air Diaphragm Pumps

PRO Series

Double-diaphragm pumps for industrial and OEM applications: The PRO Series double-diaphragm pumps offer first-class performance and operational reliability thanks to their unbalanced start valve. In addition, these diaphragm pumps from ARO® achieve flow rates of up to 897 l/min. The pumps are ideally suited for general industrial and OEM installation applications.

EXP Series

Double-diaphragm pumps for process engineering, lowest total cost of ownership: These pumps are the double-diaphragm pumps with the lowest total cost of ownership on the diaphragm pump market and are the favorite among process professionals. The EXP series double-diaphragm pumps also stand out thanks to a wide range of material configurations and high flow rates of up to 1,041 l/min.

FDA Series

SD Series diaphragm pumps are designed for the efficient and safe transfer of food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products. The QKD design for quick disassembly enables rapid inspection and maintenance, followed by quick return to service. PM Series diaphragm pumps are ideal for applications that require quickly disconnectable fluid connections. The pumps are also constructed from materials (316 stainless steel) that are FDA-approved.
