Hidden champion of the region for drum pumps and pump systems
Member of the Bundestag Gunther Krichbaum visits FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH
There are several industry-leading, medium-sized companies like FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH from Maulbronn in the southwest. Their innovative strength secures jobs and is an essential factor and locational advantage for Germany. For more than 70 years, FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH in Maulbronn has been manufacturing innovative barrel pumps, even for substances that are difficult to pump, such as tomato paste or lubricating grease, and supplying them to customers in more than 100 countries worldwide. In the course of the exchange between politics and medium-sized companies, MdB Gunther Krichbaum visited the pump manufacturer to find out about the economic framework conditions on site and to better understand the current challenges of the industry. Klaus Hahn, managing partner of Flux, spoke in this context about bureaucratic obstacles, e.g. around the topic of online work or due to new certification requirements for exports in the wake of Brexit. It is also currently difficult for the medium-sized company to fill vacant apprenticeship positions.
Strongly positioned, despite the pandemic
Despite the pandemic, the 130 employees were able to keep the number of pumps produced and the previous year's turnover almost constant. The pump systems are used in many industries, for example in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries or in manufactories for cosmetics, soaps, in surface coating, for example in electroplating plants, or even in breweries. The durable pumps are manufactured with a high vertical range of manufacture in Maulbronn and convey practically any substance from alcohol and sugar syrup to oil, lacquers and pasty waxes and, last but not least, toxic, explosive or aggressive chemicals of all kinds. The sustainable modular design allows easy component replacement. A fast spare parts service is also part of the company concept. Even pumps for very viscous or corrosive media have been in operation for decades. - A product quality that pays off and earns the company not only loyal customers but also a place as a "hidden champion" in the region.
In 1950 the worldwide’s first electrical drum pump was named FLUX. Meanwhile the undisputed pioneer on the field of drum pump technology also has outstanding expertise and experience in many other areas of pump technology. The comprehensive product portfolio ranges now from various pump types with motors, flow meters and accessories to subsystems for the plant engineering and special system solutions like the drum emptying systems.
